José Carvalho is making some of the most wonderful wines in the south of France. From his base in Banyuls-sur-Mer he is making roughly 12 cuvees of red and white wines from the famous schist soils of this incredible area.

The 2016 Pirate qui Chante is Grenache grown high in the hills above the town. It is destemmed by hand, fermented in tank and transferred to barrel for roughly 8 months before bottling.

Like all of José's wines it is made and bottled without fining, filtration or sulphur additions- nothing but organic grapes ever goes into the bottle.

It's a strikingly delicious blend of ripe fruit and perfect freshness thanks to the soil.

Drink this in Autumn and Winter and smile very broadly. Serve at about 16C

Enjoy!
